I am just a little obsessed with riddle poems. I think they require precise writing, sensory detail, and often thoughtful metaphors. I can't remember writing my first riddle poem, but they've become my favorite kind of poem to write. I even found a great website for writing riddle poems.
I also try to read all the riddle poems I can. Here are a few of my favorite books: Riddle-icious by J. Patrick Lewis, Riddle Road by Elizabeth Spires, When Riddles Come Rumbling: Poems to Ponder by Rebecca Kai Dotlich, The New Exeter Book of Riddles, by various British authors, and The Universal Vacuum Cleaner And Other Riddle Poems, also from England.
